I'm thankful to see more videos come up like this which reveal the process of Premo's production magic. In this studio footage, DJ Premier starts by teaching the importance of the Roger Linn Akai S-950 sampler and it's history in Hip Hop, I actually had no idea how far back that machine went! After that we get a snippet of Premier laying the scratches for a song with Ludacris who sits right in front of him nodding away. Premo's beat underneath the scratches sounds dope, from his interviews I always wondered what the beatmaking process is like as a producer who prefers to create tailor-made music live for his clients!
