DJ Scientist Spins U.S., Saudi & Iranian Funk Music On "The Ride" Mixtape

"„The Ride“ is possibly one of DJ Scientist’s funkiest and most powerful mixes to date. It was time again for a mix without limitations and something less “educational” than his Soviet groove and polit rock sets from the past years (check his contribution for the Solid Steel 25th year anniversary, his Georgian Groove Mix, Soviet Disco & Modern Soul mix, as well as the two Polit Rock mixes “Keine Musik für Niemand”).

The first part of “The Ride” is an uptempo funk set with some underground classics such as Jack Hammer’s “Swim” as well as a few lesser known tunes ranging from heavy afro funk by Manu Dibango to latin funk by Cuban group Irakere. It also features more “common” records like Mike Berry’s “Dial My Number” and the striking “Peace Frog” by the Doors. The second part of the mix is based on a couple of mid tempo funk, rock and “global groove” tracks from Turkey mostly, but also contains music from Iran, Lebanon, Israel and more.

Last but not least, it should be noted that the first track in the mix (“The Ride”) by American artist Milton Bowser is taken from an almost completely unknown German single release which DJ Scientist discovered and currently re-released in co-operation with Tramp Records on his own new label The Artless Cuckoo.

The mix is additionally released in a very limited analogue tape edition of 10 copies." - DJ Scientist
