Audio: Madlib Visits Jazz Trumpeter Stanton Davis' Record Collection

Two generations of music meet to share appreciation for funky rare grooves as a young California producer meets up with an accomplished Jazz musician. Hear the fruits of a record-canvassing mission co-piloted by the loop-digger Madlib and Now-Again Records founder Egon in this interview feature by NPR. This is an audible treat for fans of obscure Jazz and Funk, plus those who seek a little more insight into Madlib's taste for records.

Stanton Davis And The Ghetto Mysticism Band released a great Jazz/Funk album in 1977 entitled 'Brighter Days', which is now available as a reissue at Undergroundhiphop.com. The album sounds like a cross between the soulful, summer vibe of Roy Ayers and the spiritual approach of Doug Carn. Listen to album snippets from Brighter Days here
