Producer Adrian Younge shows why he was the best choice for "Twelve Reasons To Die" with the darkness and and drama of "Human Absence". Like the thrill of a David Axelrod tune, Younge takes us on an intriguing journey to the edge of Funk.
The always-funky Spasibo Records offer a couple treats from their jar with the groovy sounds of VuVuVu, "Cookelida" lands somewhere between the Soul of Isaac Hayes on the "Three Tough Guys" soundtrack and the dramatic Funk of Mandrill. This and "The Bass Line" feel like being caught up in a high-speed chase and gun blasts of a 70's Blaxploitation flick.
Adrian Younge & Ali Shaheed Muhammed present a remarkable moment of fusion as two renowned musicians merge for 2021. On "Gotta Love Again" the Brazilian music of Marcos Valle meets the electrified Broken Beat of Kaidi Tatham. With the combined talent of two musicians who pour their heart into song, the result is a musical representation of love like none other.
Relax your mind, let your couscous be free and Let it Soul as multi-instrumentalist and composer Adrian Younge lends his ear to create a dreamy and cinematic atmosphere of music on the instrumental LP version his "The Delfonics" project. Combining a sense of drama with laid-back and joyful moments for music stylistically parallel to great groups such as The Stylistics and The 5th Dimension, Adrian's sound soothes like a walk in the park and at times projects feelings of tension like walking down the wrong street at night.

Two of the finest producers alive joined the show for Episode 12, Ali Shaheed Muhammad & Adrian Younge. They talked to us about their work on scoring Marvel's Luke Cage, as well as the new Tribe Called Quest album (out today!), and how the group influenced Adrian's career. They also talked sampling, along with its potential issues (including the "Blurred Lines" case). Then, the show finishes with how the guys got their start in music.
