Reignite Your Love Affair Of Soft Rock With The Music Of Ethel Lindsey

"Ethel Lindsey's debut LP, marks the beginning of a new musical journey, showcasing the talent and heartfelt nostalgia of this gifted singer-songwriter. Deeply rooted in the sound and spirit of the 1970s, his work draws from the golden age of Soul, Funk, Disco, and AOR, blending these genres with elegance and authenticity. His songwriting and vocal delivery are so true to the era that one could easily imagine this album emerging straight from a California studio in 1976." - Favorite Recordings

Brazilian Funk Musician Lucas Arruda Returns With "Onda Nova" LP

"Favorite Recordings proudly present Onda Nova, new and third album by Lucas Arruda. Mostly written, composed and arranged by himself, Lucas however teams up on a few tracks with his old mate Fabricio di Monaco (Modo Solar), his brother and musical partner Thiago Arruda, who recently joined Ed Motta’s live band, or Gaël Benyamin, also known as Geyster, who brings his longtime “savoir-faire” and skills for writing and composing AOR and WestCoast music genre, and who share this deep passion with Lucas.

Onda Nova is therefore pursuing the music direction set with Solar, mixing touch of Blue-Eyed-Soul, Pop, Soul and Brazilian styles together, and influenced by the path of legendary Brazilian producer Lincoln Olivetti, who recorded some of the biggest stars of Brazilian music (Marcos Valle, Jorge Ben, Tim Maia…)."

Favorite Delivers Easy-Breezy '76-'85 Soul On "AOR Global Sounds Vol.3"

"Favorite Recordings and Charles Maurice proudly present the 3rd edition of their acclaimed AOR Global Sounds compilations series. Another brilliant selection of 14 rare and hidden tracks, produced between 1976 and 1985 in various parts of the world.

On AOR Global Sounds Vol.3, DJ and producer Charles Maurice delivers again a fine overview of the AOR and WestCoast influences for many artists in the late 70s and early 80s. Even more than on previous volumes, he selected highly forgotten productions, deeply infused with Disco and Soul flavors."

"Many of these great gems were naturally produced through all the USA, often made by artists with a very short career and as private press. For example, Jeff Silna only recorded this amazing song after winning the competition of a long gone Miami radio station, the Stratus project started around 1974 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, and was a band led by Bob Ackley who only released this 7” single in 1976 after recording a full album and doing a few gigs around Michigan, John Kontol (Jon Konteau), however having credits for a few productions and appearances and still acting as a musician, never released another LP after his heartbreaking experience with Erect Records, that never rewarded him for his work and even change his name against his consent, as for “Dirt (In The Sky” by 7 Days Unlimited, whose both members were from Pittsburgh area, where a lot of dirt was literally flying in the air, the song was released in 1980 on a very limited 500 copies 7” single.

But this kind of stories and waste of talent is not solely and American privilege, from Willy Santana (member of Placa Luminosa) in Brazil, and Funky Team in Sweden, to Stacey and Out Of The Fog in Canada, this 3rd edition proves again if necessary the international scope and fervor of this music scene, and the surprising amount of great music that go unnoticed at that time.

Fully remastered from originals, with great attention to sound quality as always, AOR Global Sounds Vol.3 (1976-1985, selected by Charles Maurice) is presented by Favorite Recordings in a gatefold vinyl double LP and as CD." - Favorite Recordings

"Favorite Recordings presents this new official album reissue of The Parker Brothers: Maybe one of the best Blue-Eyed-Soul/Modern-Soul albums you can imagine, surprisingly highly unknown and underrated.
Produced in 1981 by George P Grexa and released in a private-press version on his label Crown Vetch Enterprises, this album is filled with memorable material from the first note to the last, mixing Modern-Soul, Boogie, cross-over Jazz and Rock elements, for a result reminiscent of the WestCoast music’ golden years, however being recorded in Pittsburgh.

As one of the longtime favorite collectable piece for Charles Maurice, it’s a real honor and proud for Favorite Recordings, to finally officially reissue it from the original master tapes and for the first time on vinyl."

"Le Polaroïd" by André Solomko

Favorite Recordings presents “Le Polaroïd” by Andre Solomko, an artist who spreads love like in the "good old days!

Born in Ukraine in 1965 and now based in Finland, Andre Solomko is primarily a rich and engaging personality, but above all, a brilliant saxophonist and true musical esthete whose contagious passion cannot leave anyone indifferent.

After beginning a meteoric career in USSR, fate led him to Finland, where after some difficult years; he will start the adventure Vinyl Jam, a label / studio / group based in Helsinki. It’ll result in two self-produced albums between 2006 and 2009, that will capture the attention of some international collectors, including Pascal Rioux founder of Favorite Recordings, who immediately felt in love for the style and analogic sound of Andre, and therefore offers him to produce a third album, released in 2012 and titled “Où es-tu maintenant ?”.

Hailed by some renowned amateurs and tastemakers, this 3rd album will also meet notable success in Japan, thanks to the support of local label P -Vine Records. This recognition will enhance a little more the relationship between Andre and Favorite, who quickly consider together the writing and producing of new songs.

True to Andre’s passion for film music and 80s jazz-funk, but also his tradition of always produce and record his music in analog, “Le Polaroid” is a continuation of its predecessor and built a stylized and aesthetics music’ kaleidoscope. Surrounded by a team of musicians partly rebuilt and some talented guests such as Alain Mion (Cortex), Mr Day, or finish singer Stiina, Andre Solomko appears at his best, displaying a subtle sense of melody and remarkable ease for composition.

It is often said that music is like those who make it ... Courageous, passionate, demanding, emotional, authentic, these are all adjectives that seem natural to describe Andre Solomko and, if the proverb is true, this stunning new album." - www.favoriterec.com

Mr President Visits Golden Age 70's Disco and Funk On "Hips Shaking"

"Bruno "Patchworks" Hovart is clearly a name to remember when it comes to modern groove music! Bassist and guitarist in various band, he started production in the mid- 90s and continues today to combine modern technology with the raw and genuine spirit of the golden age of Disco, Funk, Soul, or Jazz.

Following the success of his many projects such as Uptown Funk Empire, The Dynamics, Metropolitan Jazz Affair, or more recently Patchworks Galactic Project, he proved album after album, a true gift of musical ubiquity, renewing in all genres and always anxious to borrow unexpected ways.

Back on Favorite Recordings label for this new solo album as Mr President, he finally provides us with a sequel to Number One (2011), first album with whom he was welcomed and praised by international media and tastemaker (NOVA, Okayplayer, Gilles Peterson, JAZZ FM, Laurent Garnier,...).

Faithful to his love for Disco and Funk from the 70s and 80s, Hips Shaking however differs from its predecessor by digging more into Pop music, but also by a more elaborate production, with real horn and strings sections invited around Patchworks. However still key to everything and polyvalent, he not only composes the whole album and plays a good part of the instruments, but this time also devotes to singing!

From Roy Ayers to MFSB , through Vince Montana and Patrick Adams, or Michael McDonald and Ned Doheny, this Hips Shaking proudly look at the sound and production of the pioneer heroes, while infusing with Disco, Pop, Electronic and Fusion influences, which have made the Patchworks’ touch: an authentic sound with a modern approach to music!"
