I was cleaning my room recently and stumbled across a print catalog that John and his wife sent me back in '95. The catalog is a hand-typed collection of his inventory of vinyl for sale which is a wealth of Jazz, Funk and Soul. I met them as a teen while digging at the 57th St Holiday Inn record convention in Manhattan NYC. For those looking to reminisce on the days of The Roosevelt, revisit crate digging grails or learn about albums you may have not heard before, enjoy. John Carraro is known for supplying Hip Hop royalty with breaks and samples that would eventually become Hip Hop classics.

Browse the Jazz Hunter John Carraro collection here at my Google Gemini and enjoy hours of good music. With the use of AI, I've created a browsable database of his record collection from digitizing the print catalog he sent me.

The Mood Mosaic Unveils Rare Funk From The Vault on "The Sexploitation"

The Mood Mosaic series of rare grooves does it again, this time with a series of extravagant blaxploitation-esque Funk grooves. "The Sexploitation" is cinematic, mysterious and dramatic as a walk down Times Square in New York City back in '77. These 22 songs which are funky to the core describe the sleaze of Europe and inner-city America during the 1970's.

"The Sexploitation" by Mood Mosaic now available here at Juno Download.

Around The Web In Breakbeats Vol. 67: Drums by Hollow Ship, PVD, Andrei Nikolsky + More

This installment of my ongoing breaks series is robust as ever, with drums that pound and are attractive to the crate digging ear. As always, when listening to the whole compilation I hope it's not just a class in modern breakbeats but a fascinating journey through distinct sounds of emerging and legendary bands.

Enjoy the breaks of Swedish psych-Rock band Hollow Ship who take us back to a late-60's vibe on "Future Remains". PVD does his duty on percussion as always, paving the way with rhythm and drum sounds that are sure to shape the future of Hip Hop music. "Botchit & Scarper" b/w "Wafty"
by Andrei Nikolsky is British Library Funk at it's finest, a sound that is hip-shaking as it is smooth and sophisticated.

"Nick Wiz Presents: Cellar Sounds, Vol. 6: 1992-2000" Available For Streaming & Download

The Hip Hop production wizardry of Nick Wiz seems endless as he continues to bless the internet with treats from the archive. Nod your head as this magician of the boom-bap goes to work, supplying heat to the likes of Shabaam Sahdeeq, Cella Dwellas, Madskillz and other outstanding MCs.

Emskee who is one of the most outstanding voices on this compilation appears above and is one of my favorite guests of this 36-track project. He shines on each appearance and demonstrates his early potential on the mic. Catch a flashback to a time where style, originality and ruggedness reigned supreme for the most part on the underground and mainstream. Nick Wiz supplies the Nod Factor for your stereo once again.

Now available on Amazon Music and Apple Music for streaming and download

Around The Web In Breakbeats Vol. 65: A Groove Armageddon

In a groove Armageddon, my mission at cratesofjr is to supply listeners with the good of music to combat the negative of life. The impact of the drum is especially powerful in our daily pursuit to get up and get involved. Like the late great James Brown, his groove made people want to get on the good foot and fight not only on the dance floor but in life. Around The Web In Breakbeats is a continuation of what JB began. It's your musical armament as a movement of good Funk and Soul powered by the impact of percussion.
