Collectors Item - Music, Art and Life: Pete Rock
Dilla, Pete Rock, Dre, Marley Marl & ALC Collide on Raekwon's "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Pt II": The Instrumentals

Step into the ghetto fabulous world of Chef Raekwon who enhances his cinematic wordplay with lavish lyricism. "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Pt II" is one of the moments when we hear The Wu's maturity as Rae weaves in luxurious living with the streets of NY. On the boards is a stellar cast of producers who support The Chef's sequel as one of Hip Hop's most mafioso figures.

This special release is brought to you by none other than Fat Beats Records and available on vinyl here at their website in 2 different pressings. European Hip Hop heads: you can also get your copy here at Juno.

Mastermind Street Jam comes live and direct from the tape deck with an episode from way back: Raekwon drops by for an interview in '96.

The 1994 Hip Hop Debut by Champ MC Receives A Deluxe Reissue With Bonus Tracks

The Ghetto Flava of Champ MC takes us back to a time when the ladies had an edge to them and weren't afraid to get ruff and rugged when necessary. In '94, Champ MC represents the take-no-shorts attitude of the ghetto as she spits venom to the production of Tony Dofat. If Onyx, Trouble Neck Brothers or Wu-Tang had a spot for a female member, she'd be a worthy candidate. So press play, roll up a Phillie and lace your Timbs as this vexed gun-toting ruffneck gal brings the drama to your speaker.

This limited-edition deluxe 2xCD version features additional production by Rockwilder, DJ Flash, EA-Ski and Pete Rock.

Pete Rock & Ruste Juxx Raise A BlackFist As The Soul Brother Logo Becomes 3-D

The power of Hip Hop has always been a vehicle to promote Blackness, and this headbanger by Pete Rock & Ruste Juxx is no exception. Get up to this pro-Black explosion and the Soul Brother and Crownsvillian get wreck for 2025. This is the head-nod you've been waiting for by two vets who complement each other with their combined adrenaline of beats and rhymes.

After 5 years of the video being out on YouTube, you now get to purchase your copy of "Black Fist" here at Amazon.

Above, artist TKO Sato brings Pete's classic logo to life with his sculpture of the Soul Brother. Check out more images from this project and other Hip Hop sculptures by TKO Sato here at Behance.

Pete Rock Remixes Big L's "Put It On" & Goes Daydreaming With Common

I've had this Big L/Pete Rock collab on tape since '94 but didn't see it uploaded online, so here it is! Hopefully this inspires someone to upload Pete Rock's rare Future Flavas remix of "Live To Regret" by Busta Rhymes. I've been looking for a copy of that one for years.

When I first heard Common and Pete Rock were collaborating on an album, I could already imagine it would be like a dream. Enjoy this grand matchup made in Hip Hop royalty as a duo resurrect the Soul of Hip Hop on "The Auditorium Vol. 1". The heavens open up our eardrum to witness the divine sound of a Soul Brother and a brother with Soul By The Pound.

M.O.P. Perform In 2000 For "Warriorz" And Represent The Realness With Pete Rock

The Mash Out Posse represent live in the flesh upon the release of their smash album "Warriorz". This is Hip Hop energy to the extreme as Fame, Bill, Tef and the crew rip the stage for an amped-up audience.

Pete Rock lays some treat on us with an exclusive collaboration he did with M.O.P. for the Future Flavaz show. The Soul Brother #1 kicks a dope verse alongside Fame and Bill while providing his signature head-nod production. Then in another exclusive from the show, M.O.P. jump on the beat for Gangstarr's "It'z A Setup". It gets no realer than this!

The U.N. Collab With Pete Rock, Large Pro & Alchemist On A Rare Vinyl EP

Revisit a New York underground Hip Hop classic with this 4-song indie release from The U.N. This project features 2 songs not on their debut album that are sure to make your head nod.

On "Long Time Coming" Roc Marciano and Pete Rock collide to bring you the energy that The U.N. are known for. With a piano-driven beat by The Soul Brother and Laku lending his gruff voice to the chorus, it's a match made in Hip Hop heaven.

"It's Over" is The Alchemist and The U.N. slows things down a bit as ALC draws from the moody Soul sounds of David Porter.

If you're interested in owning a physical copy, this rare release by The U.N. is now available here on eBay.

Pete Rock Drops "Return Of The SP1200 Vol. 2", Visits UK Radio With The U.N. in 2001

Enjoy a blast from the past to when the overall sound of Hip Hop beats were neck-snapping, joyful and enriched with Soul. Pete Rock goes into the vaults to demonstrate why he's one of the best on the SP1200 with his second volume of instrumentals. For those who listened to his Future Flavaz radio show in the 90's you might recognize some of these beats which he used to play. Below, Pete joins Roc Marciano and Mike Raw of The U.N. on a trip to The UK to promote "Petestrumentals".
