Funky Composer Alex Puddu Mixes "Hot Love", Drops "The Golden Age" Vol. 3 Soundtrack

"Alex Puddu has done it again!

This is the third instalment of the soundtrack composed by our hero for the third chapter of the DVD series The Golden Age of Danish Pornography 1970-1974. The project began in 2011 with the release of a collection of twelve 8mm vintage hardcore short movies from the early '70s directed by the pioneer of Danish porn cinema Freddy Weiss. A second DVD published by Jan Schmidt's Pink Flamingo Entertainment followed in 2014. The third DVD has never been produced, and never will be... So, what's the deal with this soundtrack?

Some of the tracks Alex was working on were almost completed; once they were done, the addition of some outtakes originally thought for the first two albums brought us to this release. Black Orgasm (until now published on 7 only), Sex Bar, XXX Action and Feeling Saxy previously appeared only as singles or CD bonus tracks and are now here pressed on vinyl!

The guy behind this project is Jan Schmidt, a close friend of Alex with whom he shares his taste for Italian movies from the '60s and '70s and a love for their unparalleled soundtracks. When Jan decided to produce this DVD series, he realised that the original audio was lost forever, and immediately thought of involving Alex in writing a new soundtrack. The Golden Age of Danish Pornography was born.

Even this time, Alex is doing (almost) everything by himself - writing, arranging, producing and performing with a little help from a few trusty friends. The recipe is rich and tasty, likely to please the most refined palates. Disco funk, tribal and exotic percussions, smooth Memphis soul riffs, fuzzy guitars, interstellar synths, electric sitar, wild vocals, groovy saxophones and trumpets, all of this and much more can be found in this incredible record!" - Kudos Records

"Italy-born but Denmark-based Alex Puddu is an outstanding composer of soundtracks and a new millennium Funk revivalist with a variety of styles and moods under his belt. He's released 3 albums with Puddu Varano between 1998 and 2001, 5 albums between 2004 and 2010 as Alex Puddu And The Butterfly Collectors, one album with The Moonfires in 2015, and no less than 6 albums under his own guise since 2010! We picked the Joe Bataan-featuring track from his 'Soultiger' project in the latest Paris DJs compilation, 'Heavyweight Gambit, No Holds Barred!' released october 2015, since then he's put out the Italian funk LP 'In The Eye Of The Cat', and there's already a new one coming in the fall: 'The Golden age of Danish Pornography Volume 3'!! We'll try to get ahold of the man for an interview soon, meanwhile here's an Alex Puddu hot mix of rare grooves, funk and latin soul, picked exclusively for Paris DJs with love…" - Paris DJs

Composer Alex Puddu Drops "In The Eye Of The Cat" & Italian Funk Mix

"The title of this damn fine album is a reference to the Italian giallo film genre of the 1960s and 70s. These lurid murder mysteries/thrillers, featuring black gloved killers lurking in the dark, gorgeous young ladies being chased and artistic displays of blood and cruelty, usually had horrifying and imaginative film titles, in many cases with words as eye(s), black, blood, death, killer and the name of an animal of some sort thrown in the mix.
A nice homage to giallo maestro Dario Argento from fellow Roman Alex Puddu."

Now available on gatefold LP vinyl and 7" single "The Bull".

Alex Puddu featuring Joe Bataan - "Soultiger" (Spotify Album Stream)

The mind behind edgy and dark soundtrack Funk projects such as "The Golden Age of Danish Pornography" Vol. 1 & 2 and "Registrazioni al Buio" flips the script to deliver a groovy summer love vibe with Latin vocalist Joe Bataan on "Soultiger". As a multi-instrumentalist, composer and a true funk addict, Alex Puddu is an expert on atmosphere and mood in creating cinematic funk music.

Journey with this duo on a hot July through New York as Puddu captures the essence of inner-city escapism in music which Bataan is known for. "Soultiger" excites like the anticipation of going to a summer block party in the city with an upbeat fusion of thumping Latin-influenced rhythm and 70's soundtrack-style Funk, driven by an overall cheerful approach on arrangement.
