Chuckii Booker Interviews With Eddie Fluellen Of The Funk Band Switch For 2020

There'll never be a better love than each of these musical powerhouses who are known to get funky and write classic love songs. In a 2020 interview with Eddie Fluellen of Switch, Chuckii Booker shares his history in music from his childhood as the son of a doo-wop lead singer and a church choir director who provided his early exposure. Plus you find out what he's been up to nowadays as these two great musicians talk.

If you were fortunate enough to hold a ticket to see Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation tour (1990), then you definitely saw this man perform. Not only was he keyboardist and music director for Ms. Jackson but he was also her opening act, with mega-hits of his own ('Turned Away', and 'Games' with its iconic groove, just to name a couple). Currently, he is the keyboardist and music director for the legendary Lionel Richie. These are just two of the many greats Chuckii Booker has had the opportunity to share the stage and studio with. And the key to Mr. Booker's continued success? One bit of advice from his godfather .... a legend in his own right! Success speaks for itself.

The love for music is real as Darnell White and Chuckii Booker pay tribute to one of the greats of Soul music in a smooth duet of flute and vocals. "Mr. Marvin" mirrors the laid-back essence of Soul which Marvin Gaye is known as a rich bed of percussion thumps along to support an arrangement which is reflective, uplifting and evokes a sense of inner city blues. With Chuckii on vocals who merges his signature sound with the nuances of Marvin's beautifully alongside his uncle Darnell's cool flute performance, this song begs for the return of an American Soul legend through the magic touch of two accomplished musicians.
