This 3 track album is packed with upbeat Hammond Funk grooves with a strong horn section and memorable arrangements, including a cover of Sly Stone's "Sing A Simple Song" and "Mongo's Boogaloo" by Mongo Santamaria.

You've probably seldom heard a teen singlehandedly touch upon the sound of Hammond Jazz in this way before, taking after greats elder statesmen of the genre such as Jimmy McGriff, Grant Green and Jack McDuff. "Chrome" was released by 15-year old Cale Hawkins in November 2007 who handled the entirety of production on the album including drums, bass, guitar, keys, and vocals. The album exudes a heavy funk fusion influence but also incorporates original songs in the rock and acoustic genres. If you enjoy the sounds of Jazz/Funk fusion, Cale has got something for you on each song as he shows his musical expertise and diversity in delivering funky, energetic Hammond grooves with a strong Rock influence.

Here is a mini-mix released by Hammondbeat Records to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of their album "Beat It" by The Link Quartet, one which marks the beginning of the now established label which features a roster of talented organ players, backed by tight bands and vocalists. I highly recommend the fast-paced, funky Hammondbeat sound of The Link Quartet, one review I saw describes their sound as "Booker T on steroids".
