These collections are here to take you to the promise land with the music of various bands who demonstrate the colorful spectrum of this genre. 

"Free The Black Man's Chains" by The Afro-American Ensemble is a funky get-down like none other. Enjoy songwriting which reflects the desire to escape by a band that use the Funk, Soul and Blues to make you feel like overcoming it all. "Eselsfutter" by Günther Fischer Quintett is obscure and spaced-out Jazz Funk in the vein of CTI Records. Get into a groove as this German multi-instrumentalist offers some previously unreleased gems from '74. "North Star is about grief and learning to accept the things in life you cannot change. A close friend who always encouraged me to embrace the things that made me a "black sheep" died unexpectedly and tragically, sparking both the intention and the compositional material for this album. It explores the void you fall into when you stop controlling the outcome and start listening for something deeper.

Woven through that grief is the reclaiming of a long-suppressed voice. Most of the melodies were composed by singing, giving the songs a direct connection to my spirit — and to the fear of being heard.

The opening trio (Constellation, Boundaries, Chapters) reflects a new stage of life: one where I stop people-pleasing and become the fullest, most loving version of myself. Tracks 4 and 5, Black Sheep and Acceptance, are direct tributes to my friend Nicholaus Zinis and the grieving process. Tracks 6 through 8 (Redshift, Sidelines, Voidant) represent the way life changes you, spiritually exploring the void and finding your way back on the other side." - Tristan Cappel

Like the comfort of the womb, "Expecting" by Candice Hoyes is soothing to the eardrum. Journey to a heavenly place on this harp-laced tune featuring Makaya McCraven and bassist Junius Paul. The three use music to envision the ultimate moment of truth and optimistic mindset of a woman. As a result, we receive an uplifting moment of music and profound expression of humanity.
