Collectors Item - Music, Art and Life: Nine
Funkmaster Flex & Nine Double M's '91 Debut "F.A.L.L.I.N." Receives A Digital Reissue

The name of the song is "F.A.L.L.I.N.", but you're sure to get up to this as Funkmaster Flex and Nine Double M make it funky. Enjoy an early release from the Bronx duo who deliver a moment of Golden Era Hip Hop comedy and distinction. This EP demonstrates pistol packin' neck snappin rap at it's finest backed by funky beats powered by the late great James Brown. The Nine goes pop in '91 and demonstrates a time when Hip Hop could be both dangerous and somewhat light-hearted at the same time.

"F.A.L.L.I.N. (And You Can't Get Up)" is out now on all streaming services for 2025. You can find the original vinyl release on Warlock Records here at Discogs or here at eBay.

Back On Vinyl: "The 9 Commandments" by NINE Double M, via Smoke On Records

Nod ya head to the rugged boom-bap of this Boogie Down Bronx native as Smoke On Records presents another throwback gem. "The 9 Commandments" displays the ruff vocal tone and uncut rawness of the ghetto which only NINE can bring. Reminisce on a time when being hardcore was trendy, the energy of Hip Hop was amped and sounds were very original between many acts.

This 2018 release has been reissued for the summer of 2023 by Smoke On Records. Get your copy of this limited vinyl LP here.

NINE & Smoothe Da Hustler Go All-Out For The Dough On "Make Or Take" (The S-MACK Remix)

The gritty voices of Nine & Smoothe Da Hustler make the perfect fit to visualize getting money in the New York City streets on "Make Or Take". S-MACK brings the noise on a remix designed to pump your adrenaline as a thumping rhythm and dramatic loop set the tone for NINE and Smoothe's depiction of the urban struggle.

For The Year Of '93, Listen To The Masters Of Funk & 9 Double M "Go Bang"

In an early appearance on the mic, 9 Double M aka NINE hits you off with the fat raps on the Masters Of Funk collaboration "Go Bang". Nod your head and reminisce on a time when an MC could make you want to jump around and have fun, yet be as lethal as a weapon.

Now available on vinyl here at BullTrax Records.

Video Music Box: Nine, Darc Mass & King Just Interview In 1995

Video Music Box co-host Crazy Sam takes hardcore MCs from the New York tri-state out of their element for a moment of fun and laughs in these interviews from '95. The grimy-voiced Nine and his partner Darc Mass represent lyrically live on-camera to promote their new single "Over Confident". Staten Island MC King Just promotes one of his best songs to date in the neck-snapping Easy Mo Bee-produced cut "No Flows On The Rodeo". The ruff edge which NYC is known for is on full display thanks to Hip Hop's pioneer of cinema Ralph McDaniels.
