"After the success of "Thèmes et Atmosphères", Saint Tropez Orchestra return with "Heavy Soul Dance Party" - 11 tracks of raw psych funk, recorded to analog tape at Studio Des Fontaines, in the South of France.
Originally, "Thèmes et Atmosphères Volume 2" was to be the obvious follow up to the debut. It was actually written and recorded many months ago, but is currently mired in licensing disputes. It will come out, but in the meantime, fed up with the waiting around, Saint Tropez Orchestra entered the studio and laid down "Heavy Soul Dance Party" straight to 4-track, needles-in-the-red, first takes and all.
The album is currently being negotiated for a vinyl release, so look out for that in the New Year.

After some minor Canadian hits, Nucleus debuted in September 1968 as a different sort of act. Having changed their name and adopted a jazzier, more improvisational approach in daylong rehearsals, they recorded their sole LP with all original songs.
"Sho is Funky Down Here" and "The Grodeck Whipperjenny" (known as James Brown's psychedelic album) was created by his then-bandleader David Matthews. They are a pair of albums that are the result of an unlikely but highly productive musical relationship between Brown, a superstar at the creative and commercial peaks of his long career, and David Matthews. David was a then young arranger-musician whose limited professional experience had little or nothing to do with the funk and soul of his collaborator. This has gotten a lot of chatter on the underground Jazz Vibes lately, copies changing hands for $300 and more. The track "These Are My Friends " regularly sells for upwards of $500 and is one of the most hard to find singles on the Rare Soul circuit.
The band are from South Florida, a well known melting pot of culture and music. This area has produced an impressive number of Super Star Jazz Musicians.
Among them Cannonball Adderley, Blue Mitchell, Jaco Pastorius, and Mike Longo and a multitude of others."

Rare debut album I Feel So Free has nine killer originals and a few unique cover tunes in the shape of The Beatles’ “Lady Madonna,” Cream’s “I Feel Free,” and the spiritual “Wade In The Water,” with Doldinger’s searing alto and soprano sax and clarinet lines aided and abetted by the pounding drums of Udo Lindenberg and Amon Duul’s Keith Forsey, along with Duul’s Lothar Meid on bass, plus Paul Vincent on furious guitar, and that’s Doldinger on keyboards too. Naturally, the overarching format is jazz, but as the material was recorded in 1969, here there are plenty of psyche leanings throughout the disc, as well as hefty doses of funky soul, while “Cleopatho” strays into languorous, smoky blues.
