"What the World Needs Now" is pure, authentic Hammond Funk by The Sugarman 3 of Daptone Records. Neal Sugarman, the co-founder of Daptone, saxophonist and leader of The Sugarman 3 joins organ player Adam Scone, drummer Rudy Albin as leading talents in their field to serve up a collection of delightful compositions which evoke a laid-back summer vibe by combining the essence of Funk and Soul. The drumming and lead guitar is funky, with fine layering of horn, sweeping organs and vocal arrangements for an overall feel-good party vibe. The Sugarman 3 are joined by a few of the Dap-Kings on this album, including the other Daptone Records co-founder Bosco Mann for a gathering of revival 70's Soul music. "What the World Needs Now" marks the groups second album which is a follow up to their last record, 2002’s Pure Cane Sugar.
