"Welcome to Episode 68 of WeGoinIN Presents, where I’m joined by Mr. Johnson aka Wordsworth. While Words is known in hip-hop circles as an incredible MC, he also teaches TV, music, and film production at Oak Hammock Middle School in Fort Myers, Florida. Since his school is closed, like most schools throughout the U.S., I wanted to catch up to him to see how he’s adapted to distance learning, both as a teacher and parent. While we still talk music here, that’s clearly secondary to the stresses we’re all facing with COVID-19. And keep in mind, this is a brief convo to get a better sense of what life’s been like for Words as a teacher and the challenges a lot of families are facing with distance learning. If you want more in-depth conversations with Words about his music, go back to the archive and check Episodes 13 and 39." - WeGoinIN Podcast
These Hip Hop heavyweights ain't nothin' to play with as they step in the ring for a lyrical slugfest on "Champion Sound". This rugged fusion of Blues, Reggae & Hip Hop is an outstanding cut from the 2019 album of the same name by Wordsworth and Pearl Gates.
The witty and intellectual rhyme flow of Wordsworth is sure to stand the test of time as he blesses the m.i.c. over thumping production by Donel Smokes for his 2015 LP "New Beginning". Validated by leading voices of the culture as one of Hip Hop's most talented lyricists, Words spits fire while delving deep within his soul to express ambition, belief and the desire to overcome obstacles in life. The duo are joined by the talents of Blu, Queen Herawin, Masta Ace, Range Da Messenga, Pearlgates, Chali 2na, Stricklin and Adanita Ross who deliver a showcase of skills paired with vivid reflections and introspective storytelling in using the pressure to create diamonds.
"New Beginning" by Wordsworth & Donel Smokes available digitally at Amazon and on CD/Vinyl at UGHH.com.
The time is near for another solo LP by one of Hip Hop's most entertaining and witty wordsmiths! Listen to the first single from "New Beginning", the collaborative album by veteran lyricist Wordsworth and Donel Smokes, a Los Angeles-based MC known for collaborating with the likes of Blu and The Pharcyde. Words provokes deep thought and shows that he can make more out of less in a rhyme as usual as powerful visions of life flash before his eyes and through his pen within a short minute.
Hear two talented wordsmiths kick the truth about life and a common wish which many adults seem to share.
Side A
Prolific rhymewriter Wordsworth joins forces with German producer Monowax for this conceptual work depicting the inevitability for inner city youth to become victims of this ruthless system. Hex One, an MC from the rap duo Epidemic, also lends his talents to add the missing puzzle piece to this timeless track.
Side B
An emotional purge in rhyme form, Epidemic's Hex One pours out some of his most intimate lyrics to date, detailing the ability for music to be a therapeutic tool to relieve pain and stress.
