A few of many recent cuts rocking in my iTunes, I'll provide ones I really like here in addition to the other vintage material for years back, I like to seek out certain good songs amongst the average or bad material out there.
Chino XL Interview on Huskey Radio, a good radio show I just discovered which features uncensored interviews with established and up & coming West Coast artists: 02 CHINO XL.mp3
Raekwon feat. Ghostface, GZA, Method Man and Inspectah Deck - House of Flying Daggers produced by Jay Dee Wu Tang prove why they remain among the masters of posse cuts on this one, I'm happy they are taking it upon themselves to bring back this type of integrity to lyrical posse cuts in today's hip hop.
DJ K.O. – Start It All Over f. Skyzoo, Emilio Rojas & Median (prod. Black Milk) nice feel-good inspirational posse cut over a beat from Black Milk's beat tapes, they use the metaphor technique of hip hop music and culture as a living person, like Common did on I Used To Love H.E.R. and The Roots' Love of My Life. I think the beat matches the story told perfectly.
I've been listening to Damu for a couple years now, but when I saw this I was even more impressed at the effort and dedication to hip hop he shows. I appreciate him and these 3 talented MCs rocking in front of Turntable Lab NY with a live MPC, it's an original display of hip hop in it's simplest form by a current artist, something I haven't yet had the chance to witness first hand as a New Yorker. Enjoy this one
