I'm happy to discover a number of great shows worldwide that I would like to share. I feel like one of the most important parts of my music education and the experience of hip hop to date is based on absorbing good live mixes, from people who do it based on passion and aren't getting paid for it:
DJ Emskee Presents Controlled Substance
Just when it seems like every hip-hop show that claims to be on point continues to DISappoint, twenty one year New York City veteran DJ Emskee steps up with the remedy, “Controlled Substance”. In recent years, many seem to have forgotten that hip-hop is a cultural movement, and is much broader than just bravado, excessive force, and bling-bling. Emskee’s domestic and international independent hip-hop, soul-funk, classics, and more will be presented every week with his infectious mixing skills, in addition to intelligent viewpoints and interviews with cats on the scene. Learn to Control Substance.
Hip Hop Culture Radio Show since 1998: http://www.hiphopculture.de/blog/?p=1320
Venz & Jiggy Dje on Lijn5: a good selection of new hip hop, some songs by artists who receive a good amount of media attention that you'd probably like, but mostly up and coming underground artists and veteran classic artists with new heat. Go back in their archives to find audio interviews from Alchemist, Buckshot, Raekwon and other important artists. http://www.lijn5.com/radio/shows/wat-anders

Conspiracy Worldwide Hip Hop Radio I really like one of their recent shows with hip hop photographer and pioneer Joe Conzo, where he tells the truth about the culture, how it's been robbed and corrupted by corporations to the point the true perception of what is was created for has been largely lost. Each show has some very insightful interviews by respectable artists, along with a good selection of new hip hop.
Chairman Mao on Red Bull Academy Radio: I've been listening to him since the days of Across 110th Street, Saturday afternoons on WHCR, an excellent show he did with Danny Rudder and Ricky Powell of the Beastie Boys. In this online show he brings a unique selection of 70's jazz fusion and soul that is perfect to relax to on a weekend and discover alot of nice breaks and samples. If you've ever heard a hip hop mix by Mao, you realize he comes from a hip hop perspective of selecting these records as well as a general fan of the obscure soul, jazz, funk genres.
