One of Inspectah Deck's greatest songs to date in my opinion. I wish there had been a whole full length solo album release of this type of INS material back in 1994 when he truly deserved to come out. Ah well, I guess I can only imagine what it might have sounded like by listening to an album of ill songs like this produced by Deck himself. I appreciate his work from the first solo LP Uncontrolled Substance and on, but the power of this song has stuck with me ever since I taped it off radio in 1995.
If you heard the version of "Let Me At 'Em" he put out on the "Tales From The Hood" soundtrack, you'll hear that it doesn't have the sinister piano part as this version does. To me the pianos on this version give the song more intensity, while the soundtrack version sounds a little tame in comparision. Whichever version you prefer, the beat knocks regardless though. When I heard this back in the mid 90's it sounded like an advancement in the Wu Tang production style where Deck made a strong effort to craft something dark and cinematic.
Enjoy this rare song as a significant piece of the vast Wu Tang archive.
