On Friday, (July 9) Lord Finesse revealed to HipHopDX.com that a shelved Big L project does exist.. but cannot be released due to issues with L's father controlling the estate. I remember hearing Finesse speak briefly about the situation on DJ Premier's Live From Headqcourterz show before.

This situation sounds like another unfortunate problem of industry and family dealings which I hope is resolved for the remaining family's sake. What makes fathers act so irresponsible to their kids and abandon reason is beyond me, I"ll never become a deadbeat dad nor get caught up in withholding another person's art.

On the brighter side, I hope Lord Finesse is able to come to some sort of resolve with Big L's father where he can ensure full control over the unreleased Big L album. As described in the interview with Hip Hop DX, a collaboration between him and Premier on the boards to produce a more polished version of "The Big Picture" sounds like an exciting project that Hip Hop needs.
