I haven't heard a Hip Hop album that represents the climate of Los Angeles quite as dark and aggressive as this, I think the cover image says it all. EQ "Out The Ash Tray Of L.A." takes a departure from the traditional sounds and mood you might expect from a West Coast MC, into hard edged, East Coast inspired production with cutting-edge battle lyricism and a few touches of live instrumentation in some songs. "Out The Ash Tray Of L.A." is no-filler, go for broke underground Hip Hop, an example of the battle driven hunger which still exists in the heart of East and West Coast MCs focused on ripping the mic apart. Don't be depressed by the darkness of the cover because the drive shown by each MC on this album is a light of hope towards the future of underground Hip Hop.
A couple of my favorite songs:
"Out The Ash Tray Of L.A." features underground heavyweights such as Planet Asia, Outerspace (of Jedi Mind Tricks), Copywrite, Writersblock (of Visionaries), Planet X, Block McCloud, Pumpkinhead, Sick Since and many more. Listen to and download the entire album at eqmusic.bandcamp.com
