Muneshine is an MC, producer, engineer and DJ from Canada, a rising talent of independent Hip Hop who has paved a path of impressive releases and guest spots. He is 1/2 of Twin Peaks (w/ @Ghettosocks), 1/2 of The Birthday Boys (w/ @Dsisive) and co-founder of Wax Reform.
"Home Brewed Productions" consists of rare and previously unreleased songs between 2004 and 2010, all produced, arranged and mixed by Muneshine.
The art of Muneshine stands as an example of the wealth Hip Hop artists have to offer through their unique interpretation of Hip Hop by holding true to the classic songwriting traditions of the 90's, while bringing competitive, next-level ideas and new views of life to the table. "Home Brewed Productions" shows that the expression of MCs and producers in the most simple form can still be used to make refreshing Hip Hop music in the present day, by taking it back to 2 turntables, a mic and dusty records combined with the forward-thinking view of dedicated Hip Hop heads.
Jake One's debut album "White Van Music" is a treat for the ear drums which boasts elaborate, refined production and a variety of talented MCs for a listening experience deep enough to have the average Hip Hop fiend coming back for more. The producer shows you around his studio space in Seattle Washington while explaining the creative process he took in creating "White Van Music", from selecting the right MCs to match with beats and more. This is the most in-depth explanation I have seen Jake One give for this album, well worth checking out as an addition to your memories of bumping "White Van Music".
This is an incredible collaboration of Hip Hop's core elements focused into one performance, a stage full of B-Boys getting down to the classic, high-energy sounds of Big Daddy Kane as he performs classics from his first and second LPs at Red Bull Breakdance Championship One in Japan. Witness a great testament to the appreciation of Hip Hop culture upheld by international regions from generation to generation, showing unification of people based on skill, tradition, competition and positivity. I hope I can make it out to this live event one day, you should consider it too if you love Hip Hop.

45 King Part 1 from The Cut on Vimeo.
DJ Mark "The 45 King" is a pioneer raised within the tradition of early Hip Hop DJs of The Bronx. Known for a vast record collection of breaks used as the foundation for producing numerous classics for The Flavor Unit and one of Hip Hop's most famous beats "The 900 Number", Mark has survived the times while leaving a strong influence of traditional boom-bap for generations to come. DJ Revolution shows appreciation for the legacy of The 45 King by recalling the significance of his early work in sampling, loops and breakbeat innovation, to high-profile projects with Eminem and Jay-Z. Long live the DJ and vinyl.

Juju, Psycho Les and Fashion introduce themselves during the circulation of their debut single "Reign Of The Tec" speaking on their origins as a production/digging team who eventually fell into the industry by the help of The Jungle Brothers. They pick on the host with a demented sense of humor, who they suspect is so wrapped up in his job he has no time for the ladies, lol. The Beatnuts are definitely a group you need to see/hear them do an interview which is uncut, this video is proof of a group with personality and humor who are most entertaining when they are most free to express themselves.
I will never forget the moment of hearing tunes by The Whispers, Shalamar, Lakeside, Midnight Star, Klymaxx, The Deele and other great acts of soulful dance music as a child, but in recent years I have come into knowledge of the man responsible for this great output, Richard “Dick” Griffey of SOLAR Records. Dick Griffey worked independently to discover a group of musicians who by large shaped the scene of 80's with a steady output of dance floor classics such as “Fantastic Voyage,” “And the Beat Goes On,” “Rock Steady” and “Tender Lover" led by the sounds of Leon Sylvers III and the early production talent of Antonio "L.A." Reid and Babyface, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.
I consider the era of Solar Records a treasured musical experience like none other, with timeless songs that touch upon love and happiness from dedicated musicians who provided messages to lift the spirit, encouraging appreciation of the best things in life. In addition to Solar's classic discography, Dick Griffey stands as an example of an African-American record executive and entrepreneur who cultivated the careers of his own people, a very inspirational part of his legacy within music.
Enjoy this mix dedicated to the legacy of Dick Griffey's Solar Records from one of the greatest resources of classic 80's R&B/Funk/Disco music, ejflavors.com

Here are two promos from Harlem MC Ema-The-Kid and Mozambiquan producer Origimoz for their upcoming collaborative project entitled "Above & Beyond". From the impact of the visuals, design and sounds I can tell this will be an interesting project, one which goes "above & beyond" the effort of the average independent Hip Hop project to leave a lasting artistic impression. Enjoy, and stay tuned for when the full project drops.

Video: The Roots Perform "The Next Movement" Live During Things Fall Apart

Things Fall Apart has aged well, I feel like I can still go back and pick up things in the music that are impressive, including their effort on stage. The Roots show the meaning of live Hip Hop in this BET performance for their 4th LP.
If you are looking for a party which showcases the music of Michael Jackson through skillful turntablism and extensive record knowledge, look no further than Brooklyn's own DJ Spinna who will throw his 2nd Michael Jackson appreciation party in L.A. in 2010. The Jigmastas/Polyrhythmaddicts producer shows his appreciation by touching upon memories of Michael's unmatched combination of performance and musical abilities, naming him as one of the greatest entertainers of all time. Spinna also reflects on magical moments he has experienced as a DJ which he believes is a result of playing Michael's music at parties.
"This is insane unbeleivable track full of cosmic sounds and played in very psychodelical manner. It is not easy to describe it in words so better listen to it! Awesome! Please see my other items for more soviet jazz, funk, soul, disco and electronics." - sovietfreestyle
Brick City New Jersey duo El Da Sensei and Tame One return with "Big Deal", showing that their chemistry, character and knack for slick lyricism founded in the mid 90's never left. This song which marks the reunion of The Artifacts is from the Beatz & Lyrics 2 Go mixtape, download the mixtape for free here at Bandcamp which features artists such as Senor Kaos, Homeboy Sandman, J-Live, Sha Stimuli, Camp Lo, Boog Brown and more.
I'm probably feeling this song a bit more than the average listener who isn't familiar from where the original sample came from: "Spellbound and Speechless" a great song by UK Acid-Jazz group Incognito. I highly encourage you to check this group out if you're looking for the best in contemporary soulful, Acid-Jazz music.
A Jay-Z performance is exciting to witness, whether audio, video or live he's gonna leave you with something to boost your adrenaline and inspire you on another level of energy than his actual album recordings. Backed by a live band and his partner Memphis Bleek, Jay-Z tears down Rock Am Ring Park in Germany with a selection of classics spanning his great career. Add this one aside your collection of Rocafella releases, the audio is courtesy of the people at All The Way Live.
Sticky Fingaz, Fredro, Sonee and Big D.S. present themselves in the rawest of B-Boy form in this interview for their debut album, "Bacadafucup" a ruff-and-rugged street classic which left an indeniable impact on the street mentality and sound of the East Coast for years to come. The energy and anger of each member is evident as Onyx define a new image of the black man as a survivalist who is thick-skinned and determined to fight his way the everyday struggles of the U.S.G. (United States Ghettos). Watch as the group take you from the jungle to a tour of the projects.
The freestyle in the beginning by Sticky is from the era of "All We Got Iz Us", when the subject matter of Onyx became a little more conscious of society and history as applicable to African Americans. as heard on their powerful song "Last Days".

9th's Wonder's It's A Wonderful World Music Group/Jamla/The Academy recording artists Big Remo, Rapsody, Skyzoo, Tyler Woods, Actual Proof, The Away Team, Thee Tom Hardy and TP stopped by Funkadelic Freestyles Radio for and interview and rhyme cypher. If you have kept your ear to the streets you might have already heard or purchased Jamla releases such as Skyzoo & Illmind "Live From The Tape Deck", Skyzoo's "The Salvation", Big Remo's "Entrapment" and more goodness. Get you bookmarks ready, this collective of MCs and producers are sure to provide a unique sound of Hip Hop in years to come as an extension of 9th Wonder's trademark soul based sound.
The combination of ill production ideas and original rhyme styles by Oh No and Alchemist are sure to make for an interesting album experience, as a fan of their catalogs I have been anticipating what this collaboration would sound like. The album snippets definitely signify "gutter" in the sense of dark, edgy Hip Hop sound which doesn't conform to any popular trend, it is meant to be threatening and surprising to the ear. I expect good things from "Gutter Water", it is an original concept from two artists who continue to challenge the ideas of how Hip Hop music can be created.
The 90's were a very memorable time indeed as Celph Titled, F.T., R.A. The Rugged Man and Buckwild explain to you as an introduction to the video for "Mad Ammo". I relate to their appreciation of that period for what it is by keeping classic elements of the music and culture around, but I am also very proud of how each artist looks toward the future in creating cutting-edge music as leaders of the current independent Hip Hop scene. Enjoy this video, they look like they're having alot of fun doing what they love, which is inspiring.
After his powerful debut single "Where I'm From", Brooklyn's own Maffew Ragazino continues his mission to provide one of the most authentic depictions of Hip Hop to emerge from his borough by gathering the talents of DJ Clark Kent, DJ Khalil and Marsha Ambrosius for a solid project. Listen to and download the EP "Where I'm From: The Experience" via the Bandcamp stream below, or download it here at usershare.
The Halftime Show with DJ Eclispe invited Maffew Ragazino for an interview, a preview of the EP and live freestyle, check for it at the 1:14:50 point.
