The improvised playing is a large part of what makes this project an enjoyable listen. "3mpire" is a one-time improvised jam recorded on 12-7-2011 which features the veteran Soul and Jazz guitarist Roy Smith on guitar, Yo Yasuda on bass, and Joe Mohn on drums. The overall feel of "3MPIRE" is a mixture of Jazz fusion and Rock, sort of like the sound of the Mahavishnu Orchestra. It begins on a mellow note with calm, but hard hitting guitar-driven grooves, venturing into a more hard-edged Rock sound towards the end of the project.
