You can send the New Jack Swing influence across parts of this album, and in it's day he probably got criticism for it. However, Laquan provides a balance between that and funky sounds on his '89 debut "Notes Of A Native Son". This simply too positive MC has lessons in store as he uses his lyrical theory to kick black history facts and examine the injustices and pitfalls of society.
