After some minor Canadian hits, Nucleus debuted in September 1968 as a different sort of act. Having changed their name and adopted a jazzier, more improvisational approach in daylong rehearsals, they recorded their sole LP with all original songs.
"Sho is Funky Down Here" and "The Grodeck Whipperjenny" (known as James Brown's psychedelic album) was created by his then-bandleader David Matthews. They are a pair of albums that are the result of an unlikely but highly productive musical relationship between Brown, a superstar at the creative and commercial peaks of his long career, and David Matthews. David was a then young arranger-musician whose limited professional experience had little or nothing to do with the funk and soul of his collaborator. You can now here the remastered version of this 1970 release below.
Press play and prepare to zone out to the mind-bending sound of these bands who share a common ability to get wicked.
