Hear A Demo Version Of Steve Parks' '81 Soul Gem "Movin' In The Right Direction"

This tune by Steve Parks remains one of the smoothest I've ever discovered while digging in the crates. Underground Hip Hop listeners might recognize the opening guitar riff on the original version of "Movin' In The Right Direction". It was transformed into a certified head-nod classic by Black Attack of Missin' Linx on "Holdin' It Down". That's actually the first time I ever heard Steve's music.

On "The Golden Key Sessions", we receive a demo version of the song without the sampled opening guitar riff and hopefully an album of more previously unreleased material.

More about this album: Steve Parks' "Movin' In The Right Direction" is a revered soul-jazz album, originally released in 1981 on Solid Smoke Records. Over the years, it became a rare groove classic, sought-after by crate diggers for its smooth vocals, rich instrumentation, and uplifting themes.

In 2019, the album received its first official reissue through Luv N' Haight Records. This reissue features a 180-gram vinyl pressing, housed in a heavyweight tip-on jacket, maintaining the quality and aesthetic of the original release.
