I guess the karate film influence of Wu Tang Clan as a Hip Hop group was bound to catch some people in the wrong way during their debut, causing them to misinterpret these 9 hungry, ambitious brothers from the slums of Shaolin. This 1993 episode of Yo! MTV Raps which features Ed Lover dressed to the hilt in Kung Fu gear and a wig basically says it all.
Ed Lover acts a fool in this interview, but little did he and the rest of the world know the powerful impact and influence The Wu would eventually leave on Hip Hop culture. It's always interesting to look back and remember the early signs of people's greatness.
This was a part of the absurd foolishness the New York tri-state was fortunate to hear from Dirty on his promo run for the album "Return To The 36 Chambers". I think Ol' Dirty Bastard's radio interview and freestyles of this time were more insane than some of the album material itself! It blew my mind to hear such a wild beast emerge from The Wu-Tang Clan in 1995. This berserk moment of FM radio shows how Dirty provided comic relief at a point when Hip Hop started to become even more more hardcore and serious.
Snoop has been a regular visitor of Conan over the past 5, 6 years or so and whenever they come together before a live audience like this it's usually hella funny. I think he should have some sort of reoccurring comedy role on the show. In this episode of Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Snoop stops by to promote his album Malice In Wonderland, and reveal some funny stuff about his life you may be unaware of.
