By JR on 9:17 AM

For the movers and shakers who remain on their grind daily, here's some soundtrack music for your life. Substantial and Oddisee keep it bouncin' on this bonus track from "Home Is Where The Art Is", released September of 2012 on Mello Music Group. This track kinda reminds me of some early 90's Tribe or L.O.N.S. from the creative reality-based lyrics and drum heavy approach.

The prolific and creative producer/MC from D.C. known as Oddisee returns in the summer of 2012 with his solo offering "People Hear What They See", out  June 12, 2012 on Mello Music Group. From the snippets it sounds like Oddisee brings the sounds we love from his work  and more by continuing his aim to provide an innovative approach of Hip Hop which is refreshing, soulful, diverse and outstanding from the average. The lead single "Hustle Off" sets the tone for what should be another Oddisee project to look forward to.

In addition to having some of the most interesting sample-based and live instrumental production out, Oddisee has got plenty of style and substance on the mic which translates into an experience of music, art and life in the form of Hip Hop for you to remember with each song.

On "Workin'" Oddisee collaborates with DJ Center to express thoughts from the everyday, working class individual. Kingpen Slim - "Sad" produced by Oddisee

Oddisee provides a strong dose of soul on the boards for DMV MC Kingpen Slim who envisions a tale of a ghetto enforcer who's life seems to end as quickly as it began on "Sad". This is one of many tragic stories from the Washington D.C. crack epidemic, an era which changed many lives of their inner city residents. Kingpen's writing on "Sad" is intriguing, emotional and visual as he effectively builds the tension from beginning to a climatic end.

Uptown XO - Tol U So feat. Fat Trel & Diamond District

I'm feeling the laid-back vibe of this track by Uptown XO, his first single from the album "Monumental II". It's interesting to hear a traces of a Southern style and accent in each members delivery, even though their from the Washington D.C. area. Although D.C. is the U.S. nation's capital, that neighborhood is known for it's underlying hood element which is notorious.

You definitely hear that vibe of ghetto life come through in the lyrics of "Tol U So" and an overall soulful feel of music thanks to the sample flip of "Casanova (You're Playing Days Are Over)" from vocalist Ruby Andrews. Expect more great music to come from the Diamond District and Oddisee camp, they have an approach to Hip Hop which is quite original and creative.

Check out the song by Uptown XO above and it's original source music below.

yU (of Diamond District)- "Before Taxes"

The Diamond District crew are a great example of artists who manage to keep it simple with beats & rhymes while offering new ideas in the traditional sound of Hip Hop for a unique musical identity. "Before Taxes" is 18 tracks of soulful Hip Hop featuring Slimkat78, Oddisee, Finale, Kev Brown, Bilal Salaam, Grap Luva, and others. The download version of this album includes bonus material including 2 remixes from Oddisee and 1 from Lord Jazz. Prepare for yU's sophomore solo album “The Earn” due out in Fall of 2011.

"Al Mawrada" by Oddisee (Bonus Instrumental From Odd Seasons)

The Afro-beat influence and rhythms on this bonus track by Oddisee is really nice, showing his versatility as producer goes beyond proficiency in boom-bap and into ethnic music compositions. "Al Mawrada" is a track from the bonus 7" record that comes with your purchase of the Odd Seasons vinyl. It's titled after a neighborhood in Omdurman, Sudan.
