K-Def continues to advance in the art of beatmaking by bringing soulful and melodic productions on his latest instrumental project "Night Shift". As a producer of Hip Hop who touches your eardrum with heavily-influenced sounds of the 70's, K-Def balances the polished approach of digital musical production with his crate digging and DJ sensibility for beats. The New Jersey native and veteran producer crafts wonderful compositions layered sound-for-sound from scratch while keeping his original essence of boom-bap MPC beatmaking style.
Night Shift features two vocal tracks, including a cover version of Escapism which replaces Pete Rock with a vocal performance from Rob O of INI instead. The rest of the album features a solid batch of elaborate and masterfully crafted instrumentals/covers, including the leaks "Supa Heath" and "From Da Brain".
