On Friday July 20th, 2012 leading contemporary talents of music set out to with a simple mission, to celebrate the life, music and legacy of the late, great Gil Scott-Heron in a free outdoor gathering under the stars in Downtown LA at Grand Performances.
Each artist pays tribute musically in a simple and passionate respect towards honoring the legacy, the soul, vitality, power, humor, social activism, humanity and fiery messages of the one and only Gil Scott-Heron. This musical, poetic and visual journey was recorded by soundboard audio to mp3 audio for all to enjoy and participate in.
The guests include a 30 piece ensemble led by Musical Director Dexter Story with very special guests Brian Jackson and Gia Scott-Heron with narration by Rich Medina.
