In the summer of 2012, DJ Mitsu The Beats journeys into the catalog of Black Jazz Records for a 72 minute mix which features some of the best musical moments of the label. Black Jazz founded by musician Gene Russell holds quite a unique and distinct sound within the history of 70's Jazz. With sounds which are mellow and relaxing, the Black Jazz sound features beautiful elements of fusion incorporated into spiritual, Funk and traditional Jazz approaches to songwriting created by a talented roster. Artists such as Doug Carn, Walter Bishop Jr, Rudolph Johnson, Henry Franklin, Kellee Patterson and Calvin Keys craft moving rhythms and melodies through  Black Jazz Records 20+ album catalog of greatness.
