French visual artist Estia Tophographiste gets creative with Hip Hop by combining images of the boom-box with legendary figures of the culture. There have been forms of boom-box art done throughout the years but she takes it to another level of imagination using photo-manipulation to evoke a strong essence of Hip Hop visually.
These are a few images from the exhibit, click to view more of the works here at her Behance portfolio featuring greats such as Onyx, Wu-Tang Clan and Public Enemy.
Words from the artist about this project:
"Because this culture will always be and be in my life since a looong time, I thaught it was time to make a tribute to some of the Hip Hop Headz !
Peace, love unity and havin' fun !!"
For some classic sounds to go along with this great art exhibition, listen to a few selected podcast episodes from "The Goin' Way Back Show" by Money B from Digital Underground. Like the preservation of great works of art by museums, Money B is helping to keep Hip Hop tradition and greatness alive on his show with interviews by legends, discussion of classics and an excellent show format.
