In college, Qool DJ Marv did a lot outside of the classroom. He organized an event called the NAACP Block Party, which was very much inspired by Unity Day, a Philadelphia based summertime event produced by WDAS radio station.
Unity Day was all about multigenerational community togetherness and Marv wanted to try it at Emory University.
This would be Marv's farewell to Emory University and it was incredible that he and his team of volunteers, fraternities and sororities was able to have a day where students, and the public, saw Miles Jaye (who you see in the first minutes of this video), Arrested Development and A Tribe Called Quest.
Wish there was more footage of the day and wish the footage didn't end at the beginning of one of Tribe's classics, however, this small glimpse of that magical day is large in vibes." - Qool DJ Marv
