One of the slept-on rhyme sessions to take place at the Hot 97 version of Stretch & Bobbito's radio show, La kills it with fierce determination to the amazement of the studio audience, over a dark beat from Rocafella records. There is an interesting parallel when I think about the rawness of La's delivery on this song compared to the changing state of Hip Hop at the time. Although this beat is a perfect fit and one of the most gutter I've heard to this day, it's owners Sauce Money and Jay-Z remind me of the other side of Hip Hop, which represented an increasing need for popularity and getting money at all costs. This episode of Stretch and Bobbito was definitely a good escape from what seemed to become an artificial reality at the time.
