Stretch & Bobbito Join The M19s For A Latin Soul Rework of Chaka Khan

The Chaka Khan classic "I Know You, I Live You" gets revived and sees a brand new swing of Latin rhythm. Based upon the musical direction of Stretch and Bob and assistance by their new band The M19s, you've got a whole new reason to get down to this timeless tune. Stretch and Bob have come a long way since WKCR FM, and on their upcoming project they demonstrate their musical progression in a cool way.

Stretch and Bobbito’s debut album No Requests explores the legendary club DJs’ vast musical knowledge with covers of songs directly from their record crates!

Featuring the M19s Band, a live band of elite hand-picked musicians, the gatekeepers of ‘90s Hip Hop step outside their foundational genre base to produce Latin, Afro-beat, Samba, Jazz, Reggae, and Soul reinterpretations of dance floor bangers—ranging from popular to rare and obscure—which loosely depart expected structure and create new nuances to familiar tunes. The group also offers original compositions along the sonic journey. All tracks have one goal in mind: GROOVE!

Video: Company Flow Reunion Show feat. Bobbito, InI & The Juggaknots

The reunion of Company Flow took place at NYC's Santos Party House on July 16th to the rejoice of many underground Hip Hop fans who have recognized their unique sound of Hip Hop since demo tapes were introduced to the masses on WKCR FM.

Check these performance clips from that night which feature some of Co-Flows greatest songs done live. As an added treat, they brought along some other artists to perform who made a mark during the same time when Co-Flow was active as a group. Special guests included Fondle 'Em faves/Indelible MCs co-conspirators The Juggaknots, Rob-O, Grap Luva and Marco Polo of InI and an introduction from Bobbito Garcia.

VIdeo: Redman 1992 Promo & Freestyles For His Debut "Whut Thee Album"

Like many classic debuts of the young and hungry in Hip Hop, the 1992 debut of Reggie "Redman" Noble on Def Jam Records seemed to redefine the attitude, wit and persona of how an MC presents himself. Redman's debut was a depart from the image of an MC which was either flashy, afro-centric, positive or socially conscious and instead embraced the raw essence of the everyday street dweller with no restriction.

"Whut Thee Album marked a period which showed a more ruff and rugged side of the East Coast than before. While other groups walked a line between positivity, maturity and the unforgiving nature of the streets, Redman stepped on the scene with an F-you attitude in a cloud of blunt smoke, dressed in timbs and a hoodie to show you the dark side of Hip Hop in full form.

Backed by the James Brown, P-Funk production of Erick Sermon, Redman tore through his debut like a beast with a combination of humor and raw energy for an album which makes "Whut Thee Album" an unforgettable work of young, street persona and musical individuality. Like his powerful debut verse on EPMD's "Hardcore", Red along with the rest of his Hit Squad were here to show you they were anything but soft, leaving an undeniable impact on East Coast urban music with their own outlook of the streets, dark Funk-inspired sound and an unmistakable image.

I know the "favorite Redman album" choice varies from person to person, I haven't heard a more varied opinion of an artist's best album than his catalog. Mine is "Whut Thee Album" and to commemorate this release, I've pulled a couple of my favorite freestyle from that era, courtesy of The Stretch & Bobbito show. I hope you enjoy these if you don't have them already:

La The Darkman Incites A Heist Of The Century, Live on Hot 97 feat. Stretch & Bobbito

La The Darkman makes it a night to remember in one of the most dangerous moments of rhyme to take place on Stretch & Bobbito's radio show. Mad tension is in the air as one of the most talented Wu-Tang affiliates brings the streets and lyrical swordsmanship to your eardrum. To an ominous soundscape of Hip Hop music, La uses the mic like a weapon and proceeds to "cock it back and smoke a rapper like Phillie". It's La The Darkman, Wu-Tang Clan..

Here at my eBay storefront you'll find the original promo sticker and 2023 "Purple Smoke" vinyl reissue of "Heist Of The Century". Thanks in advance if you decide to make a purchase of those or anything else through my link. As a member of the eBay Partner Network, eBay may pay me a commission for your purchase.

Tragedy Khadafi Released From Prison, Working With Capone-N-Noreaga: source: http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.11606

Tragedy's release from prison is a good thing for the state of Queensbridge hip hop, now all we need is Prodigy back in the mix. Here is a freestyle and interview from 1996 on the Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito Show, this was a place where he felt very comfortable to come up and express himself lyrically. At this time he was collaborating heavy with the Mobb Deep/CNN clicks in addition to being a leader in releasing quality work to the independent hip hop world. Queensbridge sure had a heavy presence in hip hop at this time.

If you're a fan of Stretch & Bob, you know the deal with it comes to them and their guests. You get some fierce delivery on the mic as well as some humor in between. Hopefully when you hear warmth and thickness of this audio you realize the benefit of still listening to those cassettes lol, Enjoy this one.
